Just because you’re cheap doesn’t mean you’re trashy. In fact, being cheap in Las Vegas is one of the classiest things you can do. With jackpots ringing, boa feathers floating, and the weirdest attractions this side of anywhere happening daily, you can bet that you want your money to stretch in Sin City. To help you figure out the best ways to extend that dollar, we’ve compiled a list of the best free attractions in Vegas.
- Twisty Limbs
You don’t have to spend an arm and a leg to see the twisty acrobats at Circus Circus. It’s the world’s largest permanent circus, with 10-minute performances every half hour or so. Best of all? This show is totally free. In fact, it’s often ranked as one of the top free shows in Vegas. Open seats are limited, so try to go during off-times before the dinner crowds.
- Mermaids. Yup, Mermaids.
Growing up to become a mermaid would raise eyebrows in any other city, but this is Vegas, baby. And if you want to see a live mermaid show, stop by the Silverton Casino Aquarium. This completely free attraction features over 4,000 fish, interactive feedings twice a day, and live mermaid shows three times an afternoon, starting around 11:30 a.m. Whether Ariel is your favorite under the sea princess or not, this free show is still a must.
- Work it like Matt Damon
You know the scene: A group of well-dressed rogues stand in front of the Fountains of Bellagio at the end of “Ocean’s Eleven” after a big heist at the casino. While you might not be Matt Damon and the rest of the gang, the towering fountains (which play in formation every 15 minutes in the evening) are quite the sight to see. Reenact the scene, play some Frank Sinatra in your earbuds, and feel like a million bucks. Hopefully, you won those bucks honestly…
- Less Magic Mike, More Magic Garden
If you need a little respite from drunk bachelorettes and questionable behavior, find some peace and quiet at one of the top free things to do in Vegas: the Bellagio Conservatory. Located inside the hotel, this free attraction is open 24-hours a day. Take some time to get the confetti out of your hair before you walk through the colourful garden oasis.
- Hike the Rocks, Try Not to Roll
Need to get away from the tipsy scene of the Strip entirely? One of the best Las Vegas freebies has nothing to do with cocktail umbrellas. Simply travel 18 km west to Red Rock Canyon. Here, you can go for a walk through the jagged landscape and breathe in the fresh air. Due to the hot desert climate, we recommend hikes in the early morning.
When you’re asking yourself what to do in Vegas for free, know that the Strip has options aplenty. It’s hardly a roll of the dice to be cheap in this town.
