Wondering how you can spend your summer vacation in Toronto? There is always something fun to do in T-O, especially during the summer. Whether you are looking for fun outdoor activities or some pursuits that will allow you to relax and unwind, Toronto has it all! The only question is, what do you want to do first?
Centre Island is located just off the shores of downtown Toronto and offers 600 acres of fun and excitement. You can get to it within just a few minutes by a ferry. Centre Island is home to a wealth of attractions including Centreville Amusement Park, several bicycle paths, a variety of eateries and many other great points of interest.
This is a terrific place to go if you want to escape the hectic city life and is especially perfect for families with kids. The island’s attractions are open from May through October, with the Centreville Amusement Park opening daily at 10:30. Plan to spend at least four hours here so that you can explore all that the islands have to offer.
If it is culture you are looking for this summer, you will want to make sure and spend some time at the Toronto Harbourfront Centre. Located along Lake Ontario’s shores in downtown Toronto, Harbourfront Centre offers a delightful variety of culture-related and outdoor activities.
If it is outdoor fun you are looking for, don’t miss the Boardwalk, Ann Tindal Park, Natrel Pond, Toronto Music Garden and Canada Square. If you are leaning more towards indoor fun, be sure to visit Enwave Theatre, York Quay Galleries, Fleck Dance Theatre, and Lake View Market.
High Park Zoo
High Park Zoo is located within Toronto’s High Park off of Deer Pen Road. The zoo is open year-round from 7:00 am until dusk. However, the Llama’s pen is only open on weekends from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm from March to October. You will find a variety of exotic animals at High Park Zoo including bison, peacocks, highland cattle, emu, and deer.
If you are in Toronto during the summer, you simply must visit Niagara Falls. When most people think of Niagara Falls, they think of the horseshoe-shaped magnificent falls. However, there are so many other exciting things for you to do as well. Just a sample of the fun activities awaiting you in Niagara Falls include Wizard’s Golf, Movieland, Niagara Skywheel, various casinos, Marineland, and XD Theatre.
Canada’s Wonderland is the biggest and most popular amusement park in Canada. In fact, it often attracts more visitors than any other seasonal park in all of North America. There are several roller coasters in Canada’s Wonderland including those that are suspended, launched, wooden, and looped.
You will also find many exciting musical and stunt shows in the park. Other activities you will want to be sure and check out while visiting Canada’s Wonderland include the Barracuda Blaster and Splash Works where you will find a wave pool, an interactive water play station and fun water slides.
These are just the top five summer activities in Toronto. T-O is an energetic metropolis with activities all year round. In addition to the activities listed above, you may also want to consider visiting Ontario Place, Junction Flea, the Bata Shoe Museum, and Edgewalk.
